Ov4l: hello. I'm tryin to setup dual head sep. X sessions with mobility t2, but i keep getting xrandr handling it. What could i be doing wrong and is that supported ?
Ov4l: thx upfront.
spreeuw: Hardware program

spreeuw: NODE 0: alu_offset: 0, tex_offset: 0, alu_end: -1, tex_end: -1, flags: 00000000
spreeuw: Mesa 7.3-devel implementation error: radeon_program_pair.c::allocate_input_registers(): Don't know how to handle inputs 0x8
spreeuw: I just got this launching Spring
Ov4l: hello, i'm trying to setup dual head separate X session on ati mobility firegl t2. Is that possible at all ? thx.
chithead: you mean multiseat, ie. two independent keyboards/mice/monitors? for this there exist various guides on the internet, based on xephyr
Ov4l: not intresed in multiseat, just dual head configuration separate sessions. I have everything defined in xorg.conf (pair of each) but it seems i get xrandr cloning the desktop.
Ov4l: i have that exact setup on nvidia, question is it possible on that card using radeon drivers.
Ov4l: ok got it, thx anyway.
gustaf1: A few weeks ago (or maybe just one week) I said that one of my monitors in my dual-head setup was flickering.. Well, I'm about to try to git bisect but it's a NIGHTMARE on -ati. why on earth can't -ati fix closing X, updating driver, restart X? I have to reboot because somehow it seems to lock something, and X becomes EXTREMELY slow (I assume absolutely no acceleration at all).
gustaf1: before KMS, please fix normal MS. it's been like this for at least half a year (and I rather frequently update my drm and -ati from git)
gustaf1: I have a laptop with nvidia and another with intel, and they work just great when going back and forth between X/console and restarting X. but -ati is nothing but a nightmare in this sense. Is this known or is it just me, and if so, what have I done wrong?
spstarr: wonders if airlied's baby was born
spstarr: or if he's on vacation right now
damentz: spstarr: he must be
damentz: totally deserves it
spstarr: he did mention it could come at any time
spstarr: yep
damentz: gustaf1: rmmod radeon; rmmod drm ?
JeanVEGA: hola :)

Nash_13: I need a help, my notebook frozen in the start don“t charge graphic enviroment
bridgman: Nash_13; do you know which driver and which graphics chip you are using ?
Nash_13: bridgman, yes y know
bridgman: can you tell us ?
Nash_13: is a Ati radeon Xpress 200M
bridgman: can you copy your xorg log on www.pastebin.ca and post a link to it ?
Nash_13: bridgman, where is it??
JeanVEGA: bridgman: could you pls look at my pastebin .conf and .log ?
Nash_13: bridgman, where is the xorg logs???
bridgman: Nasth_13: typically var/log/Xorg.0.log
bridgman: JeanVEGA; already looking at it ;)
JeanVEGA: bridgman: great, thanks :)
bridgman: it seems to finish setting up the graphics driver, then the log stops while setting up input devices
JeanVEGA: do you have any ideas, where the problem could be ? :)
bridgman: JeanVEGA; what is the actual problem ? My (Czech ?) is rusty ;)
bridgman: hopes he guessed right ;)
kkuno: -.-
JeanVEGA: bridgman: the problem is, that 3d acceleration doesn't work
JeanVEGA: bridgman: when i type glxinfo | grep direct it writes:
JeanVEGA: unknown chip id 0x7145, can't guess.
JeanVEGA: libGL warning: 3D driver returned no fbconfigs.
JeanVEGA: libGL error: InitDriver failed
JeanVEGA: libGL error: reverting to (slow) indirect rendering
JeanVEGA: direct rendering: No (If you want to find out why, try setting LIBGL_DEBUG=verbose)
spstarr: hullo bridgman
spstarr: happy holidays to you :)
bridgman: hi spstarr
bridgman: JeanVEGA; I think I've seen that with an old version of Mesa, checking now
JeanVEGA: bridgman: i'm using the newest ~ mesa, there is only gits' one left :)
MostAwesomeDude: Hey peoples. What's up?
bridgman: we're all moving slowly with turkey hangovers; you ?
MostAwesomeDude: Getting dragged shopping.
MostAwesomeDude: Got LLVM code up on my personal repo. http://cgit.freedesktop.org/~csimpson/llvm ; try the r300 branch.
MostAwesomeDude: Doesn't work yet, but I'm making good progress.
spstarr: MAD|shopping: couldn't resist Boxing Day could you ;p
spstarr: (you do have Boxing Day in the USA?)
revx: .wg 2
kkuno: someone has an rs690 card?
EightEleven: Hi, I have a Radeon RV250 and switching to resolutions lower than 1400x1050 give me a blank screen.
EightEleven: Lower resolutions seem to work nicely when I use the vesa driver.
EightEleven: But it doesn't seem to work with the open source radeon driver.
EightEleven: What can I do about this?
soreau: EightEleven: Do you have the radeon driver installed correctly? /var/log/Xorg.0.log might have an indication as to what may be going on
porcodildo: someone has a 690 card?
mo3sizlak: anyone know when the kms patches are be included in the mainline kernel?
bridgman: I think there was talk of 2.6.30 but don't know much more
EightEleven: Soreau: I checked xorg.0.log already, but didn't see any problems.
EightEleven: 3D acceleration is also working okay.
soreau: Well that's strange then
EightEleven: I'm using ubuntu, so it actually automatically installed almost everything.
EightEleven: I already tried disabling ddc.
EightEleven: NoDCC option in xorg.conf.
EightEleven: But that option was ignored according to the xorg.log.
EightEleven: This is my current xorg.log: http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/93423/
soreau: When you say blank screen, does that mean black?
EightEleven: Yes, it goes completely black.
EightEleven: Sound and everything just keeps working okay.
EightEleven: Btw, it is a laptop screen on LVDS.
EightEleven: But with the vesa driver, it is working okay.
EightEleven: Except on the vesa driver, I can only get lower resolutions by starting a game in low resolution.
soreau: Do you have compiz running?
EightEleven: Nope, it doesn't run on this system at 1400x1050.
EightEleven: I did have it running before at a lower resolution for a short time.
EightEleven: But then I prefered the higher resolution.
EightEleven: Btw, I'm running Ubuntu 8.10 now. Lower resolutions were also working fine on Ubuntu 8.04.
soreau: Have you added a Modes Line in xorg.conf?
EightEleven: Unfortunately I cannot see what changed between those versions.
EightEleven: I tried adding a modes line. Didn't seem to make any diference.
EightEleven: I also tried to add modes with xrandr, but I couldn't find the correct settings/parameters there.
EightEleven: I currently commented the lines out that I changed. My current xorg.conf: http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/93427/
soreau: bbl
EightEleven: ok
mastamind: hi. i am using the master branch of the ati driver and pal tv out partly works. the video does not flicker anymore, but it is still black and white. does anyone have an idea, how i can get some colors?
mjg59: mastamind: Sounds like it's probably outputting in a non-PAL colour format
mjg59: But I'm not familiar with TV encoder setup on radeon
mastamind: mjg59: actually it is a minor problem. black and white is better than nothing. using other standards does not work either. but i did not expect ntsc to work but pal to fail.
mastamind: i am sure pal is the correct tv standard.
mjg59: mastamind: ntsc gives you colour?
mastamind: no. it does not.
mjg59: Ah, ok
mastamind: and i am sure, pal is the correct standard.
mjg59: Yeah
mjg59: It probably is
