Nightwulf|work: hi all
larstobi: Hi! :-)
larstobi: I have a "Radeon HD 3650" card (RV635)
El_Angelo: congratz!
larstobi: Thanks El_Angelo! I would like to be able to watch video at 1080p. This is not currently possible, as everything is left to the CPU. I can watch 720p without problems.
larstobi: I am currently using the development HEAD of the radeonhd driver.
larstobi: Is there support for this in the near future, or should I get by with another driver in the mean time?
Mark__T: larstobi, http://www.botchco.com/agd5f/
larstobi: thanks!
larstobi: Mark__T: I understand this is for the R6xx, but does that include RV6xx?
Mark__T: it's that one afaik
larstobi: okay
larstobi: also, this seems to be the xf86-video-ati driver, not radeonhd
MostAwesomeDude: larstobi: Yep.
El_Angelo: ieuw Mark__T
El_Angelo: :p
MostAwesomeDude: AFAIK nobody's doing r6xx EXA/Xv, although I don't know for sure.
MostAwesomeDude: *in radeonhd, I mean.
Mark__T: El_Angelo, Hi!
Mark__T: It doesn't say what driver, does it? AFAIK Alex is working on both
larstobi: is R(V)?6xx very different to RS6xx?
MostAwesomeDude: Mark__T: He's not the only one with access to the docs. :3
El_Angelo: do we hear some envy?
El_Angelo: so MostAwesomeDude you have docs for r6xx and r7xx already? but under NDA ?
MostAwesomeDude: El_Angelo: No, I'm not under NDA.
MostAwesomeDude: And I haven't written any r6xx code, save for a bit of GEM setup in DRM, which didn't actually use any NDA docs.
MostAwesomeDude: And actually, my code was fail. IIRC airlied wrote it better, faster, stronger, etc.
MostAwesomeDude: As far as actual setup, I hear that basic DRI's working. I think it's being built on Mesa.
MostAwesomeDude: I'm kinda excited for when stuff gets out of the review, and we can all enjoy r6xx code. The shaders are pretty awesome-looking on paper, and I hear that they're decently simple to program.
MostAwesomeDude: Is any of that helpful?
El_Angelo: hmmm
El_Angelo: i'm just a person by the sideline... i watch and i try to learn
MostAwesomeDude: Sorry. I'm not going to tell you anything that you'd only find out by reading the classified stuff. :3
El_Angelo: i wasn't expecting that
MostAwesomeDude: Ah.
El_Angelo: i'm just waiting till i can run my htpc without fglrx :)
El_Angelo: but i'm not looking for info that is not available :)
El_Angelo: and 1080p would be nice :)
MostAwesomeDude: Well, let's see.
El_Angelo: but it's not like that is a priority :)
MostAwesomeDude: Um, r6xx should be able to do 1080p with textured video acceleration just fine.
Mark__T: fglrx is no option, it makes my box crash
El_Angelo: i have a 780g
El_Angelo: i believ that is r7xx ?
El_Angelo: it's a hd3200
El_Angelo: i lost count somewhere
MostAwesomeDude: Ooh. Um, I can't say whether or not anybody's working on r7xx acceleration.
El_Angelo: i heard that once r6xx is fixed r7xx would be trivial to fix as well
El_Angelo: i'm a patient guy ;)
El_Angelo: >> lunch
MostAwesomeDude: I know the 3D cores are somewhat similar, but I can't say how much.
andy_123: hi all, using 780G board, can anyone tell me how to get XV working?
libv: andy_123: there is no such thing yet.
andy_123: libv: oh, thought it was alredy there, recent changes fro 1.2.2 state that XV support is there
libv: andy_123: for r5xx and rs690
libv: andy_123: not for any newer hardware with missing 2d engine and vastly different 3d engine
andy_123: oki, thanx...will wait then ;-)
rehabdoll: what cards use rs690?
rehabdoll: ah, integrated stuff
Obscene_CNN: wishes he could downgrade his rs780mc chip for an rs690
rehabdoll: my hd2600 has been collecting dust for about a year and a half
rehabdoll: wants xv!
rehabdoll: :>
ssuominen: I switched back from hd2600 to r200 (9200pro) :-p
rehabdoll: i use a geforce :(
Obscene_CNN: I have a laptop and can't switch
ciaranm: my rs690 doesn't work since 1.2.1 :(
ciaranm: lots of weird flickery lines and random screen blanking
Obscene_CNN: ciaranm, did you file a bug report?
ciaranm: Obscene_CNN: nope. i've not been able to get anything useful to report, since git bisect dumps me in the middle of things that're unusable for other reasons
