Nightwulf|work: hi all
Travis1: so many problems with this video card...
udovdh: oh?
Travis1: http://pastebin.com/m5e2b35b1
Travis1: that's my latest Xorg.0.log
Travis1: I've been following people's instructions as well as the community guide with no luck
Travis1: been editing my xorg.conf file. Been editing the radeonhd_driver.c file. all sorts of things
Travis1: someone even wrote a patch for me...
Travis1: so far obviously no luck!
sint: hey i am running radeonhd but when moving the glxgears window, the gears are not moving within the window. they only appear after releasing the mouse
sint: is there maybe an option i've missed in xorg?
adamk: sint, Are you using a compositing manager?
sint: yes
adamk: Then you need DRI2.
adamk: Which requires KMS which, in fact, doesn't work with radeonhd.
sint: adamk: its already active in section module
adamk: That doesn't mean anything. I can list all sorts of modules there, and even have Xorg load them. If the driver doesn't support it, it doesn't work.
sint: adamk: is there a way to check if its loading
sint: oh, k
adamk: Seriously, I'm telling you right now, you need KMS. You can't use KMS with radeonhd.
adamk: Switch to radeon, make sure KMS is enabled in the kernel (and that the radeon driver is compiled with KMS support) and then try.
sint: ok, i'll try this
adamk: If you are unsure of how to proceed, check the wiki in the topic on #radeon
sint: adamk: ok, i have checked and kms is running, but i have the same problem with radeon. this was the reason i wanted to give radeonhd a try.
adamk: Well I can assure you it won't work with radeonhd.
adamk: How do you know that KMS is running?
sint: i've did a grep on the kernel info
sint: grep -i kms /boot/config-2.6.31-14-generic
sint: it says yes
adamk: That doesn't necessarily mean it's activated. What's the output of 'cat /proc/fb'
sint: CONFIG_DRM_RADEON_KMS=y
sint: nothing
adamk: So it's not activated :-)
sint: thats good?
adamk: Unless you enabled it by default in the drivers staging section, you need to pass 'radeon.modeset=1' as a kernel option when booting up.
adamk: It's not good if you want KMS :-)
sint: good :)
sint: adamk: ok tried to configure some stuff and will reboot now. hope it will work! thanks for help :)
evocallaghan: SunTzuTech: Ben, what you doing here! :)
edman007: hi, can anyone tell me if trem 1.2 works (http://tremulous.net/files/) you 1.2 is the gameplay preview, 1.1 needs to be installed before running 1.2, and 1.1 runs perfectly for me
dandel: radeonhd and the latest kernel git do not mix 0o'
